ARC project – online workshop for SMEs from Karlovac County and Lika-Senj County

AZOP in cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Economy, continues with a series of free online workshops for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the framework of ARC project. An interactive workshop “How to comply with the GDPR” was held today, December 1, for entrepreneurs from the area of Karlovac and Lika-Senj County. Thus, about two hundred participants had the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge for an adequate implementation of GDPR provisions, which is mandatory for all companies in the European Union, as well as for those companies that have data from European citizens.

At the opening of the workshop, the director of AZOP, Zdravko Vukic, thanked the Croatian Chamber of Commerce for their cooperation and wished all entrepreneurs success in their further work. “Our aim is to help and facilitate SMEs to align their business with the provisions of the GDPR. Although we facing COVID-19 pandemic, through this online workshops, we have found an efficient model to help micro, small and medium-sized businesses realise that investing in personal data protection and information security is not an administrative burden, but an investment that will pay off,” Zdravko Vukic said.

In addition to lectures on the legislative framework on personal data protection, the interactive workshop also consists of practical exercises, but also provides an opportunity for SMEs to ask questions during the workshop in order to clarify all doubts.

During the workshop, on examples from practice, SMEs had the opportunity to learn about data protection principles, keeping records of processing activities, data subjects’ rights and privacy policies, processing personal data through cookies, technical and organisational measures for personal data protection and reporting on personal data breach, etc.

The workshops are conducted within the framework of the EU project ARC (Awareness Raising Campaign for Small and Medium Enterprises) co-financed by the European Union Programme for Rights, Equality and Citizenship, coordinated by AZOP, in partnership with the Irish Data Protection Commission,  and the University of Vrije from Brussels.

The next workshop will be held on December 8 and will be intended for micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs from Krapina-Zagorje County.
