The Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency invites craftsmen, entrepreneurs, and all interested data controllers and processors to the webinar “Principles of Personal Data Processing” which will be held on August 22, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 AM. Registration is not required to participate in the webinar. By clicking the link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89755373014?pwd=HTFqKxqy4NCPAb716rf0hluWidPaaR.1, you will directly access the webinar (it is recommended to join 10-15 minutes before the start of the webinar). Please note that the number of participants is limited to 100.

The principles of personal data processing are at the core of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Article 5 of the GDPR prescribes seven key principles related to the processing of personal data that data controllers and processors must adhere to:

  1. Lawfulness, fairness, and transparency;
  2. Purpose limitation;
  3. Data minimization;
  4. Accuracy;
  5. Storage limitation;
  6. Integrity and confidentiality;
  7. Accountability.

These principles serve as the starting point for compliance with the GDPR, aiming to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and protect the rights of individuals (data subjects).

Understanding the principles of personal data processing is crucial for understanding the obligations under the GDPR. Before processing any personal data, companies (data controllers) must consider if such processing is lawful, fair, transparent, necessary for a specific purpose, if the personal data they hold is accurate, stored only for as long as necessary, and if appropriate measures have been taken to ensure the security of personal data commensurate with the risk.

The Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency invites all craftsmen, micro, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurs, as well as other interested data controllers, to free online education sessions conducted by the Agency within the framework of the EU ARC2 project aimed at providing support for compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation. Although the project is primarily intended for this targeted group, the activities carried out in the ARC2 project and the web tool Olivia can be beneficial to all organizations processing personal data, including all data controllers and processors in the private and public sectors.

The main result of this project is the web tool Olivia, which includes 15 GDPR courses, theoretical and practical modules that can help you understand GDPR obligations and create essential documents to demonstrate compliance with the GDPR. Olivia is also an excellent tool for raising awareness about data protection within an organization, as it includes knowledge tests through which employees can test their knowledge. If they achieve at least 80% correct answers, Olivia generates a certificate of successful module completion. Remember that one of the most important organizational measures for data protection is regular employee training and raising awareness about data protection.

We invite you to register and explore the content offered by the web tool Olivia: https://olivia-gdpr-arc.eu/en.
