ARC online workshop for SMEs 20 January 2021

AZOP in cooperation with the Croatian Chamber of Economy, 13 January 2021, organized a free online workshop “How to comply with the GDPR” for micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs.

At the beginning of the workshop, Igor Vulje, deputy director of AZOP, and member of the Steering Committee of the ARC project, emphasized that the online workshops and other ARC project activities as educational materials like Guidance on cookies, Guidance on video surveillance, Guidance on how to draft privacy policy and key steps to comply with the GDPR could be very useful to SMEs in their efforts to comply with the GDPR. ARC team is here to offer help and support.

During the training, participants had the opportunity to learn about basic provisions and concepts from the GDPR (what personal data is, who is controller/processor, data subject, rights of data subjects), as well as their obligations when collecting and processing personal data with examples from practice.

In addition to lectures on the legislative framework on personal data protection, the interactive workshop also consisted of practical exercises, but also provides an opportunity for SMEs to ask questions during the workshop in order to clarify all doubts.

Participants also received some of the templates for the application of the GDPR, which can then be adapted to their business processes, as well as a certificate of completed education.

The workshops are conducted within the framework of the EU project ARC (Awareness Raising Campaign for Small and Medium Enterprises) co-financed by the European Union Programme for Rights, Equality and Citizenship, coordinated by AZOP, in partnership with the Irish Data Protection Commission, and the Vrije University Bruxelles.
